Terms of Service
These terms apply to all services provided by Kiwi Homestay Community (“we”, “us”, “our”) through this website.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
By making a booking, submitting an application, or purchasing any service through this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
Services Covered
Our services include, but are not limited to:

Homestay placement services

Police check application support
(collectively referred to as the “Services”).
If any service-specific schedule below conflicts with these general terms, the relevant schedule will prevail for that service.
Bookings & Payment (General)

All prices are stated in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST unless otherwise specified.

Payments are processed securely via Stripe. We do not store full credit card details.

A booking or service request is confirmed once payment has been received, unless stated otherwise in a relevant schedule.
Cancellations & Refunds (General)

Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Service-specific rules and fees are set out in the schedules.
Liability & Conduct (General)

We exercise reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by NZ law, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant service.

Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 are not excluded.
Confidentiality & Recording (General)

We treat client information as confidential except where disclosure is required by law or to prevent harm.
Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. The current version appears on this page.
Schedule A – Homestay Placement
Application & Placement Fees
-
Students are required to pay a placement (matching) fee once a suitable host family has been confirmed.
-
The applicable fee and payment details will be provided to the Student prior to invoicing.
-
The placement fee becomes non-refundable once the placement is confirmed and services have commenced, except where required by law.
Police Vetting
-
Police vetting is required prior to placement.
-
The cost of police vetting is NZD $60 + GST.
-
Responsibility for payment (student or host) will be confirmed prior to invoicing, depending on the placement arrangement.
Homestay Fees
-
The first four (4) weeks of homestay fees must be paid in advance, together with the Placement Fee.

Homestay fees vary depending on the host family and placement type and will be advised prior to invoicing.
Cancellations & Refunds

Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy – Homestay section.

The Placement Fee is not refundable once placement has commenced, except where required by law.

Homestay fee refunds follow the timelines and conditions set out in the policy.
Transfers After Initial Placement
-
After the initial four-week period, if a student requests a transfer to another homestay arranged by us, an administration fee of NZD $150 will apply per transfer.
Responsibilities
-
Students (and/or their guardians) must provide accurate and complete information, comply with New Zealand laws, follow homestay rules, and make payments on time.

We act as an intermediary to arrange homestay placements and provide reasonable monitoring and support.

We are not responsible for the day-to-day actions or conduct of host families or students beyond the exercise of reasonable care in placement and oversight.
Schedule B – Police Check Support
Service Scope
We provide administrative support and guidance for police check applications submitted to the New Zealand Police or Australian Police.
The final decision, processing time, and outcome of any police check are determined solely by the relevant authority.
Client Responsibilities

You must provide complete, accurate, and truthful information, including valid identification documents and references where required.

We are not responsible for delays, refusals, or issues arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information provided by the applicant.
Payment
-
Full payment is required at the time of application.

Applications will not be processed until payment has been received in full.
Refunds
-
Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy – Police Check section.
Privacy
-
Personal information provided will be used solely for the purpose of processing the police check application.

Information may be shared with relevant authorities as required to complete the application.
Responsibility for Additional Costs

The applicant is responsible for all fees associated with the police check application.

If resubmission is required due to incorrect or incomplete information:

Authority re-submission fee: charged at actual cost by the relevant authority

Administration fee: NZD $20 per resubmission
